The Matsutake king of mushroom are extremely rare and cannot be cultivated in farm. It can only grow in forest where there pine tree only.

Matsutake is Japanese word meaning Matsu-Pine and Take-Mushroom. These mushrooms are very popular amongst Japanese for its unique aroma. It’s an autumn season food for Japanese. These mushrooms have to grow wild and naturally and cannot be cultured like other mushrooms. Mountains at japan does bear these mushrooms but in very small quantity and so it is very highly prized going up to 1000us per kg and standing average at 500us per kg but the imported matsutake from China, Canada, Mexico and few other countries get in japan at much lower price ranging from 20us to 100us per kg depending on quality and season.
